Oh, this is lovely. If you did intend Persephone to be a metaphor for spring, I find 'rebel on crossroads' a little bit of an odd image as it brings to mind them struggling against their death at the onset of autumn/winter rather than them flowering at the coming of the fertile months. Though, come to think of it, I don't even know when poppies bloom, so you can probably just ignore me. This is gorgeous, though, very vivid. And Greek mythology references win every time. :la:

Thank you muchly, dear heart.
Yes, as I wanted to portray the strife at the beginning of spring after a harsh winter hence, "rebel on crossroads." Gosh, I adore how you get me so.
SO VERY TRUE :iconlawooplz:

"Persephone's close" was a little weird, but then again I have no idea what a Persephone is.
The other two "watch as ruby red poppies rebel on crossroads" Was amazing. It gave off an image of imbalance, disagreement, bloodshed and corruption but also peace and remembrance.
You want my two cents? Although I'm not much into haiku, this one really was touching on an emotional level.

Persephone is a who, not a what... -_-
Short summary: She's a godess from Greek mythology. The daughter of Demeter, who got abducted by Hades, the ruler of the Underworld and Persephone later became the queen of the Underworld. She spends half a year there and half a year on Earth.
Most likely "Persephone's close" is a metaphore for "spring is close".

YOU HAD ME AT PERSEPHONE

Ahem. Lameness aside, I freaking adore this.

I was confused for a bit why you used poppies since the vegetation that is really associated with Persephone are pomegranates (of course), narcissus, ivy, lilies of the valley, willow trees, daisies, lavender, maidenhair fern, and oriental lilies. But, then I thought about it, and remembered that poppies were used as offerings to the dead in ancient Greek/Roman times, when Persephone was in her "hay-day."

So you kind of just made me fawn a bit because asjwifhiovh you have no idea how much I adore Persephone and how much of a nerd I am when she's mentioned.

I'll shut up now.

I'm thrilled to hear that, darling!

Mhmm, red poppies especially bring forth such a vivid imagery of life and death, not to mention red is kind of like Persephone's color.

I am seriously humbled to hear that and no worries, I'm a general Greek mythology nerd myself. :giggle:
