I just read through my past journals and it seems this is my 14th lit competition here on DA, and my 17th competition overall, which is jolly! I have obviously been gone a long time so I wanted to meet people from the lit community and get involved again so this seemed like a good idea, plus obviously its almost Christmas so why the hell not!
The Theme
This year I asked my 7 closest friends to write their favourite memory from 2012 on a piece of paper about each of the other 7 (including me). They will all go into envelopes and on New Years Eve each person will get an envelope with these letters from the other 7 people about them. This is a great way to remind you of how far you have come in the past year, remember the best days and nights of that year, to feel loved, and it provides a permanent reminder that you can go back to in twenty years and remember this year. The Literature Community ExperimentThis is a typical example of a ^Beccalicious shower pondering! The idea of this is to try and bring together as many people as possible all in one journal, but not for the sake of making a big number, but to encourage interaction and share useful tidbits. We often say the "literature community" has drifted apart over the past few years and this is just one attempt to try get people to come back together. It's a little hippy, perhaps a far-fetched idea, which is why I am calling it an "experiment". This could be successful and could be a complete fail- only you guys and your efforts can decide its fate!

Critmas: results!Critique is something we all desire- its why most people are on dA. We want feedback on our work- some of us just to validate ourselves, others for improvement tips and others who are aiming for move their work on and want genuine suggestions to assist with that.
That is quite a demanding request.
Fortunately, there are people out there who do take their time to look at work, take the time to review, respond and offer this critique. And writing a critique is time consuming, even more so when you’re writing several. Sometimes I think that people forget that, which is why Critmas has a message not just about giving critique out for prizes, but to thank those who do offer that free time to help others with their work.
We can often be quite selfish, expecting critique from others but aren’t willing to give back. Even if you took the time to challenge yourself and write one a week, you will reap the benefits.
Anyhow enough of the lecture; let’s see the results!

Louder Than a Bomb Poetry Slam
In 2013, #Elocutionists will be hosting its first spoken word competition, dubbed 'Louder Than a Bomb' (named after the Chicago Poetry Slam of the same name). The competition will consist of writers either having their work performed to their specifications by readers or representing themselves in the competition with their own recordings. There may also be the possibility of two categories to enter: a category for individual slam poets and another for groups. If you are not aware of what a poetry slam is, here is a quick definition and rundown of some basic, universal rules:
A poetry slam is a competitive event in which poets perform their work and are judged by members of the audience. 2013 AND A TIME MACHINE
_{A New Year's Contest}

The Mayan calendar finishes one of its great cycles in December 2012, which has fueled countless theories about the end of the world on December 21, 2012 at 11:11(UTC).
End of days? Will the world keep spinning after the Mayan Calendar ends? Most likely.

Another year has come and gone carrying along with it the bludgeoning weight of not only our regrets, failures and disappointments, but also our wishes, achievements and blessings. With all these things in mind, what from this year has inspired you most? Frustrated you most? What, where, and when were did the happiest and saddest of moments of 2012 occur? What lesson or letdown will you be carrying with you unto 2013? What do you wish for the most with this coming year? Do you want to plan this year out or have you already started planning your 2013 or will you just be winging it for once/ as always?

A new year can mean so much and varies quite vastly, too, from person to person and I personally would love to know what meaning new year's- this 2013 in particular, holds to you guys, hence the reason for this contest.
